Im running Ubuntu 8.10, Nvidia GeForce 8800GT. By the way, I haven't been able to successfully enable any of the other drivers from synaptic because I receive errors after rebooting and trying to start X. If this doesn't work, I will be forced to reformat. So, I think I want to try one more time to install this driver. In all the steps I have tried I can't even run in 2d mode, so I am stuck in low graphics mode. My problem is that I have been unable to install the driver. I found out that there was a new driver update available so I thought I would give it a try. So, I have been impatiently waiting for a fix. After some kernel updates three weeks ago, I lost all functionality of 3d graphics. Many thanks to and you guys for your help & speed.I have been trying to install the newest Nvidia drivers from their website.

  • Reinstall the video-driver via the GUI and reboot.
  • Reboot and run sudo pacman-mirrors -fasttrack 5 & sudo pacman -Syyu.
  • Uninstall the video driver → sudo mhwd -r pci video-nvidia in my case.
  • Uninstall the old kernel → sudo mhwd-kernel -r linux513.
  • in order to choose which kernel you’ll use.

  • From the chroot env, install the new kernel with pacman → pacman -S linux515 for my case ( mhwd-kernel -i linux515 won’t work in a chroot env).
  • Open a Konsole as root and run manjaro-chroot -a (The -a flag will automatically detect any Linux filesystem on your devices and mount them on /mnt).
  • Create a LiveUSB Manjaro (use the latest ISO from the official download page, be sure to check the kernel version of it, personally I needed the 5.15 version).
  • Ok so everything is working fine now, I managed to update my kernel and now I can update my manjaro without any problems.įor anyone wondering how, here are the steps I followed :
